BIM BOP 2024

The eighteenth annual BIM BOP conference at USC School of Architecture will be taking place online, live via Zoom, this year. We have set up a series of two sessions each with three speakers (each lecture is 30 minutes) and 15 BIM BOPs (5 minutes each). Sign-in for attending all or part of the event.

Topics include BIM workflows, schematic design, AI, generative design, collaboration, construction robots, interoperability, web apps, conceptual design for financial feasibility, 3d printing, conceptual design, AR, sustainable design, cool software that you ought to know about, and others. AIA Cincinnati 2024 Golf Scramble

Program Overview

Join your colleagues and friends for a day of golf followed by lunch, prizes, and more! The outing will be held at Pebble Creek, an 18-hole golf course in Cincinnati that features bent grass tees, fairways and greens, as well as several water hazards and wall to wall cart paths. The course is known for its superior greens.

Pebble Creek plays from 4612 yards (forward tees) to 6144 (back tees) and is playable and enjoyable for golfers of every skill level.

The AIA Cincinnati Golf Scramble helps support chapter programs that benefit the local architectural community including continuing education, professional development, and local advocacy efforts.

Bundle packages are available in advance ($25 each) and include one (1) Move-up, two (2) Mulligans, and three (3) door-prize tickets. (one per golfer allowed)

Event Notices

ALL golf cart operators MUST have a valid Driver’s License. No more than two participants are allowed in a golf cart at any one time. Golf carts must remain on paths at all times.

Proper golf attire is required. No cutoff shorts, tee shirts, gym wear or other unsuitable clothing, as determined by Club Management, will be permitted on the course. ALL participants are required to wear soft spike or non-metal cleat golf shoes on the golf course. Each player MUST have his/her own golf clubs and golf bag. The Club is not responsible for items left on property during or following the Event.

Rainout policy: The outing schedule does not allow for Rain Dates. In the event inclement weather occurs, the Golf Staff will determine the playability of the course. Due to the construction of greens and cart paths, if the weather breaks, the course will be playable. However, in the event the weather does not permit play on the scheduled date, the clubhouse will serve any meal(s) scheduled. In all cases, every effort will be undertaken to complete as much of the golf event as possible.

Registrations and sponsorships are not tax-deductible but may be eligible to deduct as a business expense.

During the AIA Cincinnati Golf Scramble, photography, audio, and video recording may occur. By participating in the event, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by AIA Cincinnati and its affiliates and representatives. Images, photos and/or videos may be used to promote similar AIA Cincinnati events in the future, highlight the event, and exhibit the capabilities of AIA Cincinnati.

AIA Cincinnati’s Urban Design Community is part of AIA’s national network of Knowledge Communities. UDC provides opportunities to share informed viewpoints on specific urban planning issues through meetings, workshops, and public forums while increasing the role of Cincinnati architects in the public/private sector decision-making process. Urban Design works to continue an exchange of practices and ideas for architecture beyond individual buildings and client interests, with active partnering relationships that impact expected changes.

The Community meets monthly and hosts programs (tours, salons, etc.) three or four times a year.

Program Overview

This course will familiarize you with the basic aspects of fiberglass composites, with a specific emphasis on pultruded fiberglass. By examining the performance characteristics, durability and numerous environmental advantages of pultruded fiberglass, the course will outline the advantages of windows and doors made from pultruded fiberglass and use case studies to demonstrate applications across a wide variety of multi-family and commercial build environments where sustainability, durability and human experience are prioritized.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss how composite materials provide predictable, sustainable and superior performance characteristics over other materials.

  • Explain the production of fiberglass composites and the advantages of the pultrusion process from a manufacturing and environmental perspective.

  • Identify the performance characteristics of windows and doors made from pultruded fiberglass and how they help meet the latest design trends that maximize light, air and views for builder user well-being.
